African 10,000m champion Diana Wanza targets personal best in Valencia

The 27-year-old lines up for only her second half marathon on 25 October, in a field led by Ethiopia's Yalemzerf Yehualaw.

African 10,000m champion Diana Wanza says she wants to lower her personal best when she runs the Valencia Half Marathon in Spain on 25 October, only her second race over the distance.

The 27-year-old ran 1:07:31 to win the Azpeitia Half Marathon in Spain in March. She faces a strong field led by Ethiopia's Yalemzerf Yehualaw, the fastest woman entered, with fellow Kenyans Veronica Loleo, who finished third last year, Daisilah Jerono and Caroline Gitonga also in the race.

Wanza has had a strong season. She won African 10,000m gold in Accra in May, the 5,000m at the Kip Keino Classic in April, and 10,000m silver at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
