The International Monetary Fund now puts the size of Kenya’s economy at about Ksh19.6 trillion, roughly US$151 billion, for 2026. That is Ksh504 billion higher than its estimate in April, according to the Fund’s October outlook data.
The new figure keeps Kenya as East Africa’s largest economy but seventh in Africa, about US$6 billion behind Angola, which overtook it in May.
The IMF forecasts real growth of 4.5 percent this year and 4.7 percent in 2027, and estimates income per person at about US$2,785, up from about US$2,548 last year. An IMF staff team is expected in Nairobi in December.
