Parts of 45 counties should get rain between 22 and 29 October, according to the latest seven-day forecast from the Kenya Meteorological Service, The Star reported. Rain is also expected in parts of Nairobi and Marsabit.

The Met warned of isolated storms in parts of Mandera, Wajir, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa and Kwale, which could cause flash floods. It said rain will not fall evenly, so some places within a county may stay dry.

The October to December short rains have started, and the Met expects above-average rain over much of the country this season. Acting head Edward Muriuki has advised farmers not to rely on the national outlook alone, but to check county forecasts from their county directors of meteorology before planting.

Residents of flood-prone areas should follow Met and county government advisories as the rains continue.
