President William Ruto left for Moscow on Tuesday evening to attend the third Russia-Africa summit, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said. The two-day meeting opens on Wednesday.
Mohamed said Ruto will push for wider market access for African tea, coffee, cut flowers, fresh produce and processed goods, and will seek investment in energy, infrastructure, manufacturing and agro-processing.
He said the President will also look for partnerships in artificial intelligence, digital innovation and technology transfer, to build skills among young people and grow Kenya's digital economy.
The trip comes as families of Kenyans recruited to fight for Russia in the war in Ukraine continue to seek answers about their relatives and their safe return. Two Senate committees, on defence and foreign relations and on labour, held a joint sitting on the matter on 8 October.
