Sifuna vows to scrap housing levy if elected president
The Linda Mwananchi leader is putting the contested payroll deduction at the centre of his campaign.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has pledged to abolish the housing levy if he wins the presidency in 2027.
The levy, deducted from workers’ salaries to fund the government’s affordable housing programme, has drawn sustained criticism from workers and opposition leaders. The government says the programme is creating jobs and homes.
