The Nairobi Southern Bypass will be closed between the Ole Sereni Interchange and Kikuyu Town for the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon on Sunday, 25 October, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has said.

The closure runs from midnight on Saturday, 24 October, until 2pm on Sunday, according to KeNHA's notice. The authority repeated the reminder on its X account on Friday morning.

Motorists going from Kikuyu to Mombasa Road should use Waiyaki Way, and those going from Kikuyu to Karen should use Dagoretti Road. Traffic from Karen to Mombasa Road should use Lang'ata Road, while traffic from Industrial Area to Kikuyu should use Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway and Waiyaki Way, Kenyans.co.ke reported.

Nairobi County Traffic Commandant Joseph Chirchir said about 30,000 people are taking part, around 1,000 of them from abroad. Police and traffic marshals will be on the roads, and KeNHA has asked motorists to follow their directions and the road signs.

Marathon organising committee chair David Mwindi said medical teams will be in place for emergencies, Citizen Digital reported.
