Terms of use

Last updated: 15 October 2026

These terms apply to starnews.website and to the 6am briefing in any form, on the site, by email or as a PDF. On your first visit, a welcome banner asks you to agree to them. Tapping either Accept or Essentials only, or continuing to use the site, means you agree. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Our content

Stories, headlines, the briefing, photos and the StarNews name and logo belong to StarNews or the people who licensed them to us. You are welcome to read, print and share links to our stories. You may not copy, republish or sell our articles, in whole or in large parts, on another website, app, broadcast or publication without written permission from newsroom@starnews.website. Short quotes with a credit and a link to the original story are fine.

The 6am briefing PDF

The briefing PDF is free for personal use. If you tap Accept on the welcome banner, it downloads automatically, once, as described in our privacy policy. You can change this any time in Cookie settings. You may forward the PDF to others as long as you do not change it or charge for it.

Accuracy and corrections

We work hard to get things right and we correct mistakes openly (see our corrections policy). News moves fast, though, and stories reflect what was known when they were published. Our content is for general information. It is not legal, medical, financial or professional advice, so please check with a qualified professional before acting on it.

Our stories link to sources and other websites. We are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

Tips and messages you send

When you send us a tip, photo or other material, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you allow us to use it in our reporting, with credit where appropriate. We protect the identity of sources who ask us to.

Using the site fairly

Please do not try to disrupt the site, access parts of it you are not meant to, scrape it in bulk, or use it for anything unlawful.

Liability

We provide the site and the briefing "as is". As far as the law allows, StarNews is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site, the briefing or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Kenyan consumer law.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and any disputes will be handled by the courts of Kenya.
