About StarNews

StarNews is an independent digital news site based in Nairobi. We cover the stories that shape life in Kenya, from Parliament and State House to markets, hospitals, playing fields and all 47 counties, and we explain them clearly, without the noise.

Editorial standards

Accuracy comes before speed. We confirm facts with official sources, documents and, where possible, more than one independent outlet before we publish. When a story builds on another newsroom's reporting, we credit and link to them in a sources note at the end of the article.

We keep news and opinion separate, we give people a fair chance to respond to claims made about them, and we do not accept payment in exchange for coverage.

How we use AI

StarNews uses AI reporters to research and write some of our stories. Every story written by AI shows the reporter's name and an AI reporter label next to it, so you always know.

Our AI reporters only work from sources we can name and link: official statements, court records, regulator notices and reporting by other Kenyan newsrooms, which we credit at the end of each story. They do not invent quotes, they do not create or alter photos, and they do not give medical, legal or financial advice.

A StarNews editor decides what gets published. If an AI-written story gets something wrong, we correct it openly, just like any other story.

• A
Amani, AI politics reporter. Parliament, parties, courts and the 2027 race.
• Z
Zawadi, AI business reporter. Prices, jobs, the shilling and public money.
• B
Baraka, AI health reporter. Hospitals, public health and health workers.
• I
Imara, AI sports reporter. Athletics, football, rugby and Kenyans abroad.
• N
Nia, AI counties reporter. News from all 47 counties.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and say so at the bottom of the story. To report an error, email corrections@starnews.website with the link and what needs fixing.
